چکیده

“Urban Pixels” are wireless, solar-powered lighting units for cities that blur the boundary between digital display technology and traditional urban lighting. By combining a renewable energy source with RF communication it is possible to achieve a self-sustaining, distributed display network that can be attached to any building surface and reconfigured with ease. Depending on their configuration and placement, Urban Pixels can be used to convey place-specific information, respond to environmental conditions or support creative expression in urban public spaces. We describe early design iterations and preliminary findings that demonstrate the potential for such a system.

Landsat Etm Sub-pixel Analysis of Urban Landscape Using Fuzzy C- Means Clustering and Differentiated Impervious Surface Classes

Fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM) algorithm has been used to analyze the sub-pixel composition of medium spatialresolution satellite image (i.e., Landsat ETM). As urban landscape shows complex patterns of land cover composition and setting, it is difficult to have high accuracy in estimating urban land cover composition from Landsat image because of the mixed pixel problem. This study evaluates th...

Segmentation of urban built up area using Fisher discriminant analysis, intensity and vegetation strength of Landsat images

A series of studies in urban growth involve the segmentation of urban built up area. This segmentation may used as input to geospatial models to quantify and map urban growth. The segmentation may be used as well to study the dynamics of urban growth on a certain time span. We present in this work a method to segment urban built up area from Landsat multi-spectral images. Our method uses the ex...

Location- and Time-Specific Hydrological Simulations with Multi-Resolution Remote Sensing Data in Urban Areas

A major challenge in hydrologic modeling remains the mapping of vegetation dynamics in an urban landscape. The impact of vegetation on interception storage varies over time and needs to be quantified in order to enable proper management of water resources in urban areas. However, the heterogeneity and complexity of the urban landscape makes it challenging to monitor urban vegetation. A more det...

Automated Subpixel Surface Water Mapping from Heterogeneous Urban Environments Using Landsat 8 OLI Imagery

Water bodies are a fundamental element of urban ecosystems, and water mapping is critical for urban and landscape planning and management. Remote sensing has increasingly been used for water mapping in rural areas; however, when applied to urban areas, this spatiallyexplicit approach is a challenging task due to the fact that the water bodies are often of a small size and spectral confusion is ...

The effect of urban cover fraction on the retrieval of space-borne surface soil moisture at L-band

The world’s first satellite dedicated to soil moisture measurement was launched by the European Space Agency on 2nd November 2009. One objective of this Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission is to obtain global near-surface (top ~5 cm) soil moisture every 2 to 3 days with a target accuracy of 0.04 m/m. To achieve this goal, the Microwave Imaging Radiometer with Aperture Synthesis (MIR...
